Maya

Maya was our well deserved peaceful lunch after we finished the rituals at VFS for a Poland visa. It was also the end of our 2D/1N staycation in July in Jayanagar, which we had undertaken because we didn’t want to wake up early for the visa appointment. 😀

D somehow found Maya, though (at that point) neither Zom nor Swi had deemed it fit to show it to either of us in their listing.

Maya manages to pack in elegance and earthiness. Between the distinct taste graph in the furniture and decor elements and the curated greenery around, one finds a contemporary meets colonial-tropical retreat in the busy lanes of Jayanagar. The first floor verandah is the place to be.

They do serve alcohol, but we skipped that. I had a cold coffee and D ordered a Love Thunder. The latter was ominous-sounding, but she liked it.

The Shallot Truffle soup with chicken was outstanding. A version of the French onion soup, and between the caramelised onion and cheese, this was a rich, hearty broth.

Since we were early for lunch, we ended up ordering only a Laksa Chicken Kabab. Excellent plating, to begin with, and for a change the fusion didn’t mess with either cuisine. Laksa spices and tandoor collaborated to deliver a mildly spicy, tasty mix.

The Pulled Chicken was not exactly spicy as promised, but rich in flavours – mozzarella, jalapeños, and red onions on a millet base.

The bill came to a little over Rs.2000. The service is prompt and courteous, and we ended up visiting again in October. 🙂
