Prost Brew Pub(Whitefield)

When we last visited our “home” microbrewery – 153 Biere Street –  we came to know of a change in management, and going by the changed look of the menu card, mourned the loss of a favourite. Time will tell if we were too harsh, but in the meanwhile, we needed to find an alternate in our favourite neighbourhood watering holes list that includes Red Rhino, Toscano Wine Collection, Biergarten, Irish House and Windmills Craftworks (the last one is like an abusive lover you keep going back to, but never mind).

Prost in Koramangala had become a favoured place despite a slow start. So when we heard that Whitefield was getting one, we were quite happy. It’s almost opposite Decathlon, Whitefield, housed on the 11th Floor of a building that has a Zomato Kitchens on the ground floor. After a brief “sashay” past gawking delivery boys who didn’t seem to know there was something else other than Zomato in that building (almost true factually) and narrowing our eyes at a lift that predicted bad outcomes, we stepped off on the 11th floor.

To monkey murals, elegantly done up cosy corners, three bars and seating that arguably has the best panorama view that a microbrewery (or any eatery in Bangalore) can offer in Bangalore. We made ourselves comfortable near the island bar, looking forward to an evening well spent, and felt…drops!

You know that confounding Bangalore drizzle that happens for five minutes and looks like the universe’s conspiracy just to get you – that! So we moved ourselves to the smoking section inside that offered a stained glass view. A Cider and a Bangalore Bolt to start with, along with Fiery Pork Skewers and Oriental Chicken Meatballs. The cider was fruity and a little too sweet for my liking, but D loved it. The Bolt is wheat beer, a little fruity with a hint of clove, and refreshing! The pork would have been excellent if the maple syrup hadn’t dominated the chilli sambal. No need to roll your eyes, the combo looked interesting on paper. The meatballs had a hot garlic sauce that was spicy enough to be an excellent beer friend!

Since we didn’t really become enamoured with this section (smoke and a spirited group whose vocabulary resembled Sacred Games 2) and the rain had disappeared, we moved back to our original table. I’ll say it again – what.a.view! I tried a Rocky Road next – lager with a citrus touch, but would probably choose the wheat over it.

Since we were sure we’d visit again, we skipped the Kerala beef starter and went for a Chicken Tikka Pizza, which was reasonably good. Pizza miracles in pubs, I now consider rare. The Chocolate Eclair sounded tempting enough for us to try, but was only just ok.

The wallet was lighter by around Rs.2500. The service was prompt and very friendly. This one gets into the list and we’re definitely going back!
