The last time we tried to get into Burma Burma on a Saturday night, we ended up going to Lucky Chan because of the wait time. They don’t take reservations on Saturday night. This time, we were prepared, and lurking around when they opened for dinner. That meant very few tables were occupied, and we got one that we liked. I have to confess, despite my disdain for vegetarian fare, I have been to this (Indiranagar) outlet multiple times, enjoyed the food, and also been to the Church Street one. I had no moral grounds really when D expressed her desire to have dinner here.

D has now become sort of a bubble tea fan! So we ended up ordering a Lotus Biscoff for her, which was very good, and I chose the original because it had the least sugar. And it worked perfectly for me.

From cold to hot we went with the Tohu Hincho – chickpea, black sesame and tohu (cousins of tofu – made from chickpea, not soybeans) soup. Thick and flavourful, just the way we liked it.
The Tea Shop Fries Platter was just okay- mock mince samosa, crushed sweet potato fried (meh) and spring onion crisps.

For mains, I ordered Uncle Maung’s Chilli Garlic Street Noodles – udon with roast chilli and garlic, asparagus, tofu and taro. D went for the Water Chestnut, Tofu and Lotus Stem fry – tossed in plum sauce and soy, with a dash of shredded ginger. For probably the first and only time, we agreed that my dish was better, which means D ate more of that! Special note for the condiments, they do add a lot more flavour in case you want that. You could also try the Brown Onion and Roasted Chilli, my usual when I somehow end up here thanks to vegetarian friends.

We’d have liked to try desserts but were stuffed. Prompt service, pleasant ambience, and largely good food cost us around Rs.3400, at which point D balked… because no non vegetarian or drinks. How how? Which means I might not have to do this again. 😀
