My Bar

No, not mine, it’s just a name. Located above Kobe in Koramangala, (map) it occupies a couple of floors, both offering my favourite kind of road-view seating. That’s probably what prompted a second visit. The place has a lot of knickknacks – lanterns hanging from the roof, and everything from compasses to framed Someecards adorning the walls. While the first visit was on a night when D and I were not really hungry, the second was a Sunday afternoon when the bellies were mostly empty! Their bar menu has quite a few interesting cocktails. On our first visit, we tried a Kala Khatta – a mix of vodka, black salt, chaat masala and raw mango mix, with mint, and a green chilli. Quite good, with multiple flavour pops, the only spoiler being the extended presence of crushed ice. We also tried a couple of starters – Beef Pepper Fry and Coorgi Pork. The first was (mostly) well cooked beef with the pepper corn adding a spicy touch. The braised pork was served with Kadamputtu, the pork itself was mildly spicy and juicy, but the accompaniment could have done better for itself.

The second visit began with a Monkey Mule and a Whatever. The first was a beer and vodka based cocktail with ginger, coriander, and orange. Fairly high on vodka, but (ironically) tempered by the beer and flavoured mildly by the coriander and orange. The other vodka based cocktail got the guava and fresh grape to add a refreshing feel. We got a Seekh Kabab that was just about ok. The BBQ Chicken Sausages though were quite fantastic with a superb hot and sweet sauce. I got myself a BTS for the second round of drinks – Vodka, Baileys, and an Oreo for company – there was nothing not to love! D’s cheesy sounding two 4 heart was a mix of apple, pineapple and cranberry juices – and again, delivered a zing effect.

D suddenly had a biryani craving (it was that Nagarjuna across the road, I think) so we decided to try a Khullad Lamb Biryani. Well cooked meat and flavourful rice, but quite filling! That also meant that the Pork Belly Benedict, despite a poached egg and Hollandaise sauce, was a bit ignored!

The place has yet to pick up, I think. On both visits, it was sparsely populated. But that also meant that the service was super attentive and prompt. A meal for two would cost around Rs.2000. The food is reasonably good and the ambiance is the kind we like, so we might just drop in for a third visit.
