  • Any Me

Aunt May (not mine, Peter Parker’s) says that there is a hero in all of us, that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble, and finally allows us to die with pride… my take is that there is also an enemy within all of us….and both of them are me… and at any point in time i could be any me. the one that i call the ‘enemy’ is the one
that gets jealous when something good happens to someone else
sighes in relief when something bad happens to someone else
is willing to stab (front, back, anywhere) to get ahead
will hog for a grand but think twice about giving Rs.5 to the old woman at the corner.
tries to get away with anything, so long as that is possible
copied in school, college etc (hehe)
passes comments with the sole intention of hurting people
amongst a host of other things which have been conveniently forgotten……

we build a sense of right and wrong based on our inherent nature and our experiences, but these are extremely subjective..whch brings me to queries on the enemy –
is it my enemy? have i played a part in creating it? does it make not having it? if i dont have it, will i still be me? without it, will i be able to survive in this world ? or is it the enemy that makes me what i am – human!!

Aunt May has also said that being a hero means that sometimes we have to be steady, and give up the thing we want the most. Even our dreams….. my take on it, is that worth it …..for any me??
and hey, this is interesting news, was chatting with a couple of rediff guys about their proposal for marketing our brand on their site
and we chatted about blogs too..and they said that though not immediately, at some point of time there would be a payment factor in blogging, which although i knew was bound to happen, i do hope is a long way off

    and a good fwd
India and Pakistan recently realized that, if they continued political tension, they would someday end up destroying each other. So they sat down and decided to settle the whole dispute with a dog fight.
The negotiators agreed that each country would take five years to develop the best fighting dog they could. The dog that won the fight would earn its country the right to rule Kashmir. The losing side would have to lay down its arms.
The Pakistanis found the biggest, meanest Dobermans and Rottweilers in the world. They bred them together and then crossed their offspring with the meanest Siberian wolves. They selected only the biggest, strongest puppy from each litter, killed all the other puppies and fed the lone ! dog all of the milk. They used steroids and trainers in their quest for the perfect killing machine, until, after the five years were up, they had a dog that needed iron prison bars on his cage. Only the trainers could handle this beast.
When the day of the big fight arrived, the Indians showed up with a strange animal: It was a nine-foot-long Dachshund. Everyone felt sorry for the Indians. No one else thought this weird animal stood a chance against the growling beast in the Pakistani camp. The bookies predicted that Pakistan would win in less than a minute. The cages were opened. The dachshund waddled toward the centre of the ring. The Pakistani dog leapt from his cage and charged the giant wiener-dog. As he got to within an inch of the Indian dog, the dachshund opened its jaws and swallowed the Pakistani beast in one bite. There was nothing left but a small bit of fur from the killer dog’s tail.
The Pakistanis approached the Indians, shaking their heads in disbelief. We do not understand. Our top scientists and breeders worked for five years with the meanest, biggest Dobermans and Rottweilers. They developed a killing machine.
Really? the Indians replied. We had our top plastic surgeons working for five years to make an alligator look like a dachshund…

  • The Journey of a Lifetime…so far

This post has been brewing in my mind for some time now, except i wasnt sure how to go about it..rather, didnt have the right words.. but saw a movie last weekend which helped in channelising my thoughts… tamil movie by the name ‘autograph’, i guess i caught it late, but thats okay…
wokay, the story goes this way- a guy is fairly successful in life, about to get married, and he makes a journey to meet all the people who have played a part in his life so far, chief being the women in his life, school and college crush to serious relationships.. well, i couldnt make it sound good, but the movie’s definitely worth a watch…
but the insight it gave me is about dealing with the past…that i make mistakes, that i might realise it later, that i make choices which might have seemed right then and does not seem right in retrospect, that i might have had to give up things that i thought i could never give up….but in spite of all that, i have to come to terms with my past, i have to be sad because i cant undo/redo it and happy that i have the memories and i am travelling a decent path…..that it has made me what i am today, that hopefully, i am a better person now… that parts of life are happy, and parts are disappointing, but that they are only parts….that i cant express myself better, but i can hope that you can, maybe in some vague way, understand what i am trying to say…..and i can shrug and say, “thats the way it is”…
i hope to make that journey too once, so i can make my peace with my past…..

  • Revolting Revolutions

this might just work out to become a crib post (thats not to be associated with the mental level of the lil folk in cribs, although some people, especially my wife, has that complaint about me, hehe). i happened to see the final edition of the matrix trilogy (yeah, i have been sorta living in a cave), even after reviews of die hard fans advocating against it…but hey, this is the matrix we are talking about, so it cant be that bad….and if you take the movie by itself, it wasnt, in fact, it was good, but unfortunately it has the matrix to live up to, which isnt exactly easy…in my view, thats what they tried to do, maybe they didnt really have fun doing it, and it showed… too many things added in just for having it…the titles shown with an ‘asatoma satgamaya’ chant to highlight the mysticism/philosophy, talks of karma….but i did love some lines, notably agent smith’s ” where others see chance, i see cost, where others see coincidence, i see consequence”…but morpheus and trinity have been truly wasted…and so many cliches, the boy wanting to live up to expectations and doing a heroic thing, a sunrise in the end….and dialogues that were made heavy just for the sake of it….bottom line, once upon a time in wwe, Triple H said “you wanted a revolution , you got it!!”, well, the same cant be said of the matrix….i guess its true what they say “everything that has a beginning has an end”…but, whatever said and done, The trilogy is unique, i doubt whether anything before or after has or will be successful in provoking so much thought….but what does provoke thought comes from the ‘idiot box’ in the form of ‘taken’…..just two more episodes to go 🙁 , hear another good piece of dialogue..” when things around you dont make sense, you try to hold on to things that make sense, so you can understand the things happening around you… you try to understand the reasons behind it, but , what if you find the reasons, and those reasons are not yours??”… those of you who wanna check the series out, try this link … so long, till the next post….
  • Death of a Saint

There were quite a number of good articles on rediff today, so am gonna have quite a few links in my post today. will start off with the title track….like julie andrews sang, “start from the very beginning, a very good place to start”…the story is about StJude, that was the name she was known by, on the net, from what i read, (interesting character) she was a champion of hacking, geek sex and did a lot to get women to embrace new technologies. my guess is, she started off at a time when the net was less crowded, and whatever crowd there was, were all men.read all about her here.also read an intro of 3 dewarein, the latest from nagesh kukunoor…have enjoyed all his fare – hyderabad blues, rockford, bollywood calling…. he set out on the trend of ‘croosover cinema’ long long before it became fashionable and we made a moniker for it.also got a link from one of my egroups, check out this site, and wear your glasses, u will certainly need them. There was also ‘will it work’ article on darna mana hain, i , for one, am eagerly waiting for this one, its sure going to be different..if you havent checked out their ‘virus’ do so on indiafm.and will leave you now with a lil
