    She was sad when she saw their tiny bodies in the balcony. After all, she’d known them from the time they were born. But she wondered why he was sad.

    He was saddened at the wasted death of two pigeons, who, if he’d had his way a few weeks back, would’ve made a fine omelette.

  • What’s age got to do with it?

    Their eyes bore into each other’s. They both realised they could no longer hide their feelings for each other. But they hesitated, there was a huge age difference between them. Finally, the younger one let his emotions show. He made monkey faces. The 30 year old who reciprocated in kind, didn’t make a pretty picture.

  • The Moment

    The moment went off without a thought. It was only when his wife reminded him that he realized the specialness of the moment. It wasn’t much, but the last time it happened was eighteen years back, in eighth standard. The next day, he chewed over the nostalgic moment a bit before he opened his lunchbox.

    From the lift, he heard the shouting on his floor. If he was greeted the same way he’d been the last few days, he’d complain. He hated confrontations. It didn’t help that he had to confront a 6 year old, who was learning karate and whose straight punch greeting landed at his body’s strategic points.

    The apartment parking slot. The kid saw him parking the two-wheeler, and asked, in all innocence “Uncle, why don’t you have a car?”. He smiled. The kid continued “I have one. All my friends have too. Only you don’t have.”  He knew the kid felt sorry for him. He felt sorry for the kid too.
