I hope u people had a lovely Independence day. We celebrated it in Yellowstone National Park with the boys being awarded the Junior ranger badge by a ranger. And we shared the fact that it was India’s Independence day that day! And did u know that Jana Gana was written as a welcome song for King George when he visited india in 1920s? Vande Mataram was not chosen as the anthem owing to its inability of being played by a band (before ARR of course!) Of course it helped being in the school choir to know boh Jana gana and Vande mataram!

SwB: hmmm, we could always show skimpily clad girls realising the folly of their ways and going back to saris!!..lol (on second thoughts, would we really want that to happen??)
cynic: we may actually live to see that… how ’bout baba sehgal instead of eminem??!!

blokes: i remember a huge controversy when the BJP was ruling, about the King George thingie.. but didnt we make some changes (in the lyrics ) from the original??

nope we changed none. bharata bhagya vidhata was meant for the king but is interpreted today as the divine lord. sindh technically should be erazed as it is in Pakistan. Vand mataram is in true indian spirit including the rendering in raag des.

the song should be introduced well to the kids instead of forcing it on them… 🙁
