Serafina sounds like a fantastic super villain<\/a> from the Marvel universe, but this is about a restaurant in Koramangala. (map<\/a>) I think I could easily associate charming or pretty if I had one word to describe the place. The brick walls, decor, furniture, lighting and the fantastic music (classics, played at just the right sound for one to enjoy it and yet have a conversation without a megaphone) lend it a touch of classiness. They have seating on two floors inside, and an alfresco option that faces the 80 feet Road. On a pleasant Bangalore evening, we chose the latter.<\/p>\n

We were really hungry, and the complimentary bread basket helped. The bread was warm, though it didn’t seem fresh. We skipped the soup and begin with drinks and starters. (menu<\/a>) \u00a0I decided on the Calvados<\/em> and D chose a Thyme Sangria -Bianco. The Calvados<\/em> belongs to the same family as say, the “Doctor’s Prescription” that’s available in many places. Brandy, with apple juice and honey, with a hint of orange, served hot. I like D’s version better, because she is more generous with the alcohol, (this one felt too mild for my taste) but it was reasonably good – especially that cinnamon touch. D’s Sangria had a good amount of wine in it though, with brandy, passion fruit and apple for company. She seemed to like it quite a bit. We had also asked for the Calamari, and it was fried just right. The spicy tomato based dip deserves a special mention.<\/p>\n

We got a bit greedy in the main course and asked for a pasta and pizza. The Paglia e Fieno Alla <\/em>Vodka, like many other pasta dishes before it, deceived me in terms of portion size. I am consistently reminded of Yoda’s “Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm.<\/em>” every time this happens. The portion looks small, but once I start eating, it somehow disproportionately fills my stomach! I quite liked the fettuccine and its creamy, yet light tomato sauce. The bacon, though they were scrimpy with it, helped. The Alla Norcina<\/em> pizza arrived soon after – thin crust, creamy and cheesy! The spiced chicken and mushrooms were a little subdued in terms of flavour.<\/p>\n

All that cheese and cream meant that we had absolutely no space for desserts! :\\ But we did feel lighter by about Rs.2700. The location, cuisine, and the ambiance is probably how they would justify it. The service was very friendly and quite prompt. via Milano still remains a favourite, but this one is worth a visit too.<\/p>\n
