Korean has been a favourite cuisine for a while now, especially after the\u00a0Apgujeong experience in Hong Kong<\/a>. Kammanahalli’s cuisine range has been proven to us these last few months thanks to a couple of visits, which include a lot of “Oh, we should try this one” on our way to our destination! Therefore Korean in Kammanahalli was only a matter of time. Arirang won over Thran this time, and off we went on a balmy Saturday evening. We reached there by 6, but it was already nearly full. We could only get the normal tables and not the floor seating. \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n

Banchan arrived even before we placed the order, and we munched on those.\u00a0We asked whether they had\u00a0makgeolli but they didn’t, so Soju it was. (does anyone know where one can get the former in Bangalore?)<\/p>\n

Surprisingly, the Stir fried spicy pork hot stone pot Bibimbap was the first to arrive. We felt the quantity was on the stingy side before we started eating, but revised our stance soon after we took the second helping! The flavours were excellent and the pork was cooked very well. The Spicy beef soup was the next to arrive, served with a small portion of steamed rice. This time, the size of the portion was intimidating, but beef briskets, fiddleheads, leek, radish and some excellent chili pepper seasoning made it a fantastic dish, and we slurped it clean! The last to arrive was the dish we had intended as a starter – Chicken Gimbap! This was a flavour and texture explosion – crunchy pickled radish, stir fried spicy chicken, cucumber, rice and egg, all rolled into a dried seaweed covering. The soy based dip complemented it very well too.<\/p>\n

We had to skip the watermelon slices that were complimentary but ended the meal with the cinnamon flavoured drink.<\/p>\n

The meal came to a little over Rs.2500. The service was very friendly, and we’ll probably repeat at some point after we have exhausted the other Korean options in town.<\/p>\n

Korean in Kammanahalli is not really a stretch of imagination. And Arirang has been on the list for a while now.
