Malta: Dingli, Rabat, Mdina, Ghajn Tuffieha
A hectic day that saw us go to the other side of the little country. The spectacular Dingli cliffs followed by an afternoon in Rabat and Mdina, where we explored catacombs, had excellent pastizza at the legendary Is-Serkin, and also visited some significant Game of Thrones locations. We then hopped across to Ghajn Tuffieha and caught a lovely sunset at Golden Bay.
Malta: Comino, Gozo & some fireworks!
Island hopping is not really our thing, but we really enjoyed the trip to Gozo and the beautiful Blue Lagoon in Comino. Gozo features a lovely Game of Thrones shoot location, in addition to the magnificent Citadella. After we got back to the main island, we ditched our plan for the night, and made our way to Valletta to watch the finale of the Malta International Fireworks Festival.
Malta: Valletta & the 3 cities
Our third day in Malta was spent in the capital city of Valletta and the neighbouring three “cities”. The day was an extended walkathon but we enjoyed the splendour of the St.John’s Co-Cathedral, the peaceful Fort St.Angelo, the grandeur of Upper and Lower Barrakka gardens, as well as local specialties – rabbit stew and bragioli, and a treat in the form of Amorino ice creams!
Malta: Fort Manoel, Marsaxlokk, St.Julian’s
Our first day and a half in Malta, which features Fort Manoel that is “historical” for GoT reasons, Marsaxlokk – a fishing village with snooty restaurants, places of interest in the St.Julian’s area, and lots of Maltese local drinks and food, including a microbrewery!
