‘Habits are the compound interest of self-improvement.’ With excellent framing, relatable examples, and easy ways of application, James Clear does a great job of explaining why good habits are important, and how one can constantly create, review, and align them.
My 10 favourite reads of 2022, and a few extras that I had to sneak in! This year, human motivations and behaviour are a big theme, but there’s also travel, a graphic novel, information warfare, old age, and a few others.
I love Amor Towles’ writing, but The Lincoln Highway is not Rules of Civility, and it’s definitely not A Gentleman in Moscow. Having said that, it is still a well-crafted tale with interesting characters and the old world charm of the unambiguity of right and wrong.
David Graeber uses history and evidence to upend the commonly accepted origin stories of money. From morality to religion to state, he probes deeply to prove that ‘the history of debt is also the history of money’. Splendid read!
The real story of a man who ‘left’ society because ‘the world was not made to accommodate people like him’ and stayed in the woods for 27 years. I found the book deeply poignant.
