After the horror story that was Vapour, we had sworn off Sarjapur Road. But a peaceful Saturday evening, combined with a reasonably good experience at Sarjapur Social a few weeks ago, and favourable reviews of the new microbrewery, got us back to the area and specifically Aurum Brew Works.
The dingy access lift got us panicking a bit on whether we had gotten it wrong, but we were fine once we were in. We chose to sit outside – the weather was pleasant and there was a skyline view to be enjoyed.
Not all the craft beers were available. We tried the Amber Lager, Witbier and the Cider. The last one was seasonal and was just ok. The Lager was the best of the lot and the Witbier was quite good too.
The Coconut & Chili Beef was too tempting to resist, and did not disappoint! This was clearly made by someone who knew the job, and we enjoyed good Mallu beef after quite a while! The Pork and Bacon skins, with cheese and sour cream was also delicious. The only snag in all this was that we didn’t have appetite enough to try the Karnataka fare in the menu.
We compensated a bit by having MexiKan – Ragi & Corn Nachos – Chicken, instead of an actual main course dish. 😉 The salsa added quite a bit of zing to a reasonably good dish. From the bunch of dessert options, we finally agreed on a Choco-Hazelnut custard with Caramel Ice Cream. The dark chocolate custard was excellent, and the in-house salted caramel ice cream complemented it very well.
The bill came to a little over Rs.2000. The service needs to be called out for their courtesy and friendliness. It actually took the overall experience up a notch. The playlist was a very good easy-listening mix and perfect for the sundown mood.
