  1. Goodness ! i have tried to chronicle accounts. I havent got very far with it !

But all these years…how wonderful. And what a story they tell !!

    🙂

  2. I used an excel – with much macro madness, formulae, pivot charts, and warning messages that scared the shit out of a casual observer (like the better half) but ZERO memory-lane value. Kudos!

  3. I tried umpteen times to maintain an account, but never lasted even a week. Now this seems to be an awesome inspiration!

Maybe now I’ll maintain my accounts 😛

  4. the writing is simple and touching and K’mangala holds so much nostalgia for me. The picture of the book is so fitting – looks like an old man(woman/person) who though beat up has had a full life!

  5. Lovely piece Manu!

I’ve tried this many times n failed at each time, these days trying to log my eating habits which makes a scary reading.

  6. There! I’ve just entered a forgotten entry into my hisaab xls for y’day…

lovely, evocative feel to this one… but JUST LOOK AT THE HALAT OF THAT NOTEBK!

  7. hmm..I dont have such a big book.I have small pocket books which I have been keeping since class 9th..
it has all things..and many such small books, are kept safe. till date 🙂
its soo awsome to go through them..
    nostalgic
    *sniff*sniff

  8. I use Excel for daily expenses – with broad headings, so really not that exciting.

BUT – I use notebooks to do the same thing when we go on family vacations. And those, yeah, when you pull them out years later and flip through, bring back such precious memories. The snowlift where the lid flew off, the noodles I was treating my grandmother to when we got caught in a rainstorm, the souvenir the whole family spent an hour debating over before buying – each item listed has a memory attached.

And people call me nitpicky. 😐

  9. this post was proceless thakur!

I have started tracking my finances too and after reading this,I really wish to do it in a book rather than in an xls sheet online. 🙂
