A son of the emperor Shibi. After Parashurama annihilated the kshatriyas, Gopati was brought up by cows as per Mahabharata Shantiparva Chapter 49 verse 78.

A devagandharva born to Kashyapa and Muni as per Mahabharata Vanaparva Chapter 65 verse 42. He was present at Arjuna’s birth celebrations as per Mahabharata Adiparva Chapter 122 verse 55.

Part of Kuber’s retinue. Once, when he was traveling in the sky, he saw Ugrasena’s wife Padmavati bathing in the company of her maids. He was infatuated and taking Ugrasena’s form began singing from near the lake. Padmavati heard this and approached him. The yaksha hugged her and began making love to her. Padmavati became suspicious and the yaksha disappeared after revealing his true form as per Padmapurana Chapter 49.

Godavari
A famous river in southern India.
She is a member of Varuna’s court as per Mahabharata Sabhaparva Chapter 9 verse 20. It originates from Brahmagiri, near Trayambakajyotirlinga in Nasik. It runs deep and several sages live serving it as per Mahabharata Vanaparva Chapter 88 verse 2. Bathing here earns one the equivalent of a gomedha yajna. He will also attain entry into Vasuki’s world as per Mahabharata Vanaparva Chapter 85 verse 33. Agni originates in this river as per Mahabharata Vanaparva Chapter 222 verse 24. Rama, Lakshmana and Sita lived in Panchavati on the banks of the Godavari during their exile as per Ramayana Aranyakanda sarga 16. It is one of India’s important rivers as per Mahabharata Bhishmaparva Chapter 9 verse 14. Bathing here earns one Rajalakshmi as per Mahabharata Anushasanaparva Chapter 25 verse 29.
Godana
In ancient India, donating cows was considered a noble deed. Buying cows with hereditary wealth and then donating them would earn a person salvation. Even donating cows bought from gambling money would earn a person a long prosperous life as per Mahabharata Anushasanaparva Chapter 73.
