Charvaka (1)

A rakshasa who was Duryodhana’s friend. In Kritayuga he lived in Badaryashrama. He prayed to Brahma and was blessed that he would be protected from all 5 elements. He then began harassing brahmins, who went to Brahma to save themselves. Brahma decreed that the rakshasa would become a friend of Duryodhana, insult brahmins, and would thus burn to death. After the Mahabharata war, when Yudhishtira reached Hastinapura, thousands of brahmins came to bless him. Charvaka arrived there disguised as a brahmin, and insulted Yudhishtira. The sages burned him to death as prophesied, according to Mahabharata Shantiparva Chapters 38-39.
