When Hanuman jumped towards Lanka, a rakshasi appeared to block him. She used Hanuman’s shadow to imprison him, but he kicked her to death with one blow and continued his journey as per Kambaramayana Sundarakanda.

Chhaya

The shadow of Vishwakarma’s daughter Sanjna. Sanjna’s children with Surya were Manu, Yama, Yami. When she could not stand her husband’s heat, she made a shadow of herself called Chhaya, and wothout informing Surya, left for her father’s house. Surya and Chhaya had 3 children – Savarnamanu, Shani, Tapati. She loved her children more and once Yama almost kicked her. She cursed that he would lose his leg and he complained to Surya. He blessed that flesh from Yama’s leg would fall off and be eaten by worms and Yama would escape. He then turned to Chhaya and his gaze frightened her so much that she blurted out everything. Surya left her and brought back Sanjna as per Harivansh Chapter 9, Vishnupurana Ansh 3 Chapter 2.

Chhagamukha

Another name for Subramanya in a form in which he has a goat’s face as per Mahabharata Vanaparva Chapter 228 verse 3.

Chhatravati

There existed once a kingdom named Ahichhatra. Chhatravati was its capital as per Mahabharata Adiparva Chapter 165 verse 21.

Chhatraketu

The second son of Lakshmana and Urmila. His brother was Thakshaka. Rama set up a kingdom named Agati on the eastern coast and made Thakshaka king. On the western coast he conquered the mlechas and established Chandramati with Chhatraketu as king as per Uttararamayana.
