A powerful rakshasa and son of Andhakasura. He prayed to Shiva to take revenge against Shiva, who had killed his father. He got a boon as per which he would only die if he was in another form. He proceeded to Kailash and fooled the gatekeepers by transforming himself into a snake. He then went to Shiva in Parvati’s form. Shiva recognised Aadi and killed him as per Matsyapurana and Padmapurana Srishtikanda.
