The chaste wife of a brahmin. An Ikshvaku king named Kanmashapada became a rakshasa because of a curse from Shakti, son of Vasishta. This rakshasa devoured Aangirasi’s husband. She was furious and cursed that the rakshasa would die if he touched his wife. This was why Kanmashapada had to take Vasishta’s help to get an heir, as per Mahabharata Adiparva Chapter 181 verses 16-22.
