A mountain. When Shiva burned Tripura, many of its parts fell on this mountain. Since then, it was seen as a holy place and the merits of visiting this place have been mentioned in the Padmapurana Adikhanda Chapter 15. As per the text, people who visit Amarakandaka will experience 37000 samvalsaras, fourteen worlds and then be born as a king who will prove to be just and unchallenged. If the mountain is visited on eclipse days, it is as effective as 10 ashwamedhas. Those are able to see Shiva there will attain heaven. During the eclipses, good karma is accumulated here. Those who take a bath in Jwaleshwara in Amarakandaka will also reach heaven. Those who give up their lives in Jwaleshwara during eclipse will get refuge in Rudraloka till pralaya. Around these parts several devas called Amaras and rishis meditate. There is a temple here whose sides measure a yojana each.
