Gandharvasena

The daughter of Dhanavahana, a gandharva who stays in the city of Swayamprabha in Kailash. She was cured of leprosy by practicing Somavaravrata as per Skandapurana.

Gandharvanagara

Vyasa has used the disappearance of Gandharvanagara as a comparison to the way sages become invisible in Mahabharata Adiparva Chapter 126 verses 35-36. In essence, it is a mirage.

Gandharvatheertha

A holy place in northern India on the banks of the Saraswati. A gandharva named Vibhavasu along with his consorts danced here. Balarama visited this place as per Mahabharata Shalyaparva Chapter 37 verse 9.

Gandhamadana (2)

A vanar who helped Rama and was the son of Kuber as per Ramayana Balakanda Sarga 17 verse 11. He used to live in the Gandhamadana mountain but led a vanar army in Rama’s war against Ravana as per Mahabharata Vanaparva Chapter 283 verse 5.

Gandhamadana (1)

A famous mountain. It is situated to the east of Himavan as per Bhagavata Panchamaskanda. It finds many mentions in the Mahabharata. Kashyapa meditated here as per Adiparva Chapter 30 verse 10. Anantha (Adishesha) also meditated here as per Mahabharata Adiparva Chapter 36 verse 3. Once Pandu, Kunti and Madri went to the Shatashringi mountain to meditate. On the way they also visited Gandhamadana as per Adiparva Chapter 118 verse 48. The mountain took on a different form and prayed to Kuber in his court as per Sabhaparva Chapter 10 verse 32. Krishna spent 10000 years here meditating with the Naranarayanas as per Vanaparva Chapter 12 verse 11. Arjuna crossed this mountain on the way to Kailash as per Vanaparva Chapter 37 verse 41. Only those with spiritual energy can enter this mountain as per Vanaparva Chapter 140 verse 22. At its peak is the badari tree beneath which is the hermitage of the Naranarayanas. Yakshas live there as per Vanaparva Chapter 141 verse 22. The Pandavas entered the mountain with Ghatotkacha’s help as per Vanaparva Chapter 145. Bhima killed Kuber’s friend Maniman here as per Vanaparva Chapter 160 verse 76. When Ravana chased Kuber from Lanka, the latter lived here as  per Vanaparva Chapter 275 verse 33.

Gadavasana

A special place in mathura. When Krishna killed Kamsa, his father-in-law Jarasandha was furious. HE threw his mace from his capital Girivraja 99 times. The place where it finally landed was Gadavasana as per Mahabharata Sabhaparva Chapter 19 verses 22-25.
