Kamboja (1)

Located in the north western part of India. The following details are mentioned about in the Mahabharata. As per Sabhaparva Chapter 27 verse 23, it was conquered by Arjuna. The chariot horses belonging to Yudhishtira were from here as per Sabhaparva Chapter 52 verse 5.  As per Vanaparva Chapter 188 verse 36, it will be ruled by lower castes in Kaliyuga. Duryodhana’s armies had Kamboja people as per Udyogaparva Chapter 106 verse 103.

During the time of the Mahabharata, Kamboja was ruled by a valiant king named Sudakshina as per Udyogaparva Chapter 166 verses 1-3. In Bhishma’s garudavyuha, there were manysoldiers from Kamboja as per Mahabharata Bhishmaparva Chapter 56 verse 7. The horses from Kamboja were splendid in appearance and were of the colour of parrots. Nakula’s horses were of this variety as per Dronaparva Chapter 23 verse 7.  Their tail and ears remained still when they ran as per Dronaparva Chapter 36 verse 36.
