They’re of 16 types and are known as Shodashopachara. They are Asana, Paadya, Arghya, Snaneeya, Anulepana, Dhupa, Deepa, Naivedya, Tambula, Sheetalajala, Vasana, Bhushana, Malya, Gandha, Aachamaniyaka, Sutalpa. These are what we offer to guests.

Upagupta

A mountainous region in northern India as per Mahabharata Sabhaparva Chapter 27 verse 3.

A son of Vishwamitra as per Mahabharata Anushasanaparva Chapter 4 verse 56.

Upakrishnaka
A warrior in Skanda’s army as per Mahabharata Shalyaparva Chapter 45 verse 57.
Upakeechaka
Keechaka, the brother-in-law of the king of Virata, had 105 brothers, who were called Upakeechakas. Keechaka and his siblings were born from the ansh of an asura named Kalakeya. When the Pandavas were living in exile Keechaka lusted after Draupadi and was killed by Bhima. The Upakeechakas got to know of this and decided to burn Draupadi in their brother’s pyre. They carried Draupadi to the burning ground, but her screams brought Bhima there. He uprooted a tree and killed all 105 Upakeechakas as per Mahabharata Virataparva Chapter 23.
Unmucha
A sage from southern India. The Mahabharata Shantiparva Chapter 208 verse 28 mentions him.
Unmadini
A beautiful woman who was the daughter of a Vaishya in Shravasti. He requested the king Devasena to marry her, but thatnks to some jealous courtiers, the marriage didn’t happen. However, the king’s commander married her. The king later happened to see her and realised his folly. The king finally died pining for her. This was related by Udayana’s minister Yaugandhanarayana as per Kathasaritasagara Lavanakalambaka Taranga 1.
