The wife of King Ooru. Swayambhuvamanu and Shatarupa had two sons – Priyavrata and Uttanapada. Uttanapada and Suruchi had 3 sons – Uttama, Suneeti, Dhruva. Dhruva’s three children were Shishti, Bhavan, Shambhu. Shishti had 5 sons – Ripu, Ripunjaya, Shipra, Vrikala, Vrikatejas. The son of Ripu and Brahati was Chakshusha. Chakshusha and Virani had a son named Manu. Manu’s son is Ooru. Ooru and Aatreyi had six sons – Anga, Sumanas, Swati, Kratu, Angiras, Gaya, as per Agnipurana Chapter 18.

Aatreya (2)

A sage, who had the power to move among planets. He once went to devaloka as Indra’s guest. He consumed amrit, watched the apsaras’ dance and felt he would like a devaloka for himself. He approached Vishwakarma who built one for him. Soon the asuras captured it. Though Vishwakarma got it back, Aatreya returned to his own hermitage on the banks of the Gautami. As per Brahmapurana he meditated there for a long time and attained moksha.

He was present at Janamejaya’s sarpasatra as per Mahabharata Adiparva Chapter 53 verse 8. He was Vamadeva’s disciple as per Mahabharata Vanaparva Chapter 192 verse 6. He advised his disciples on Nirgunabrahma as per Mahabharata Anushasanaparva Chapter 137 verse 7.

Aadi

A powerful rakshasa and son of Andhakasura. He prayed to Shiva to take revenge against Shiva, who had killed his father. He got a boon as per which he would only die if he was in another form. He proceeded to Kailash and fooled the gatekeepers by transforming himself into a snake. He then went to Shiva in Parvati’s form. Shiva recognised Aadi and killed him as per Matsyapurana and Padmapurana Srishtikanda.
